Big Ben's Fish and Chips
About This Spot
Walking into Big Ben’s Fish and Chips, you’re greeted by a bright, unassuming space where the hum of everyday life slows just enough to let the day’s small pleasures settle in. The atmosphere is straightforward and clean, with enough warmth in the attentive service to make you feel genuinely welcome. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot where families, couples, and solo diners pause for a satisfying, honest meal without fuss.
The pace here is unhurried yet purposeful, as plates of golden-crisp haddock and halibut find their way to tables, often accompanied by thoughtful sides like tangy coleslaw or a fresh salad. The air carries the familiar, comforting aroma of freshly fried fish, a scent that draws you into the simple joy of shared memories and casual conversation. It’s a place where even waiting moments are cared for — from a small touch like coloring sketches for kids to the quietly efficient way orders are handled.
Big Ben’s food invites an approachable kind of indulgence. Whether you opt for a classic serving or a hearty combo with shrimp and scallops, there’s a satisfying heft to each portion that speaks to generous hospitality. And for those with a sweet tooth, homemade delights like rice pudding and coconut cream pie offer a gentle, nostalgic end to the meal.
While the décor stays minimal and bright, avoiding distractions, it allows the focus to remain on the food and the people who enjoy it. The space might lack the cluttered coziness of a tucked-away café, but it shines in its quiet clarity and spotless care — a practical setting with room for good conversation and easy enjoyment.
For locals and visitors alike, Big Ben’s embodies a straightforward appreciation for fresh ingredients, thoughtful service, and the kind of relaxed dining experience where the everyday feels a little more special.

Fresh food ! Amazing service they gave our kid some crayons and a colouring sketch while we waited. Definitely the best fish and chips we had. Will definitely come back oh and the rice pudding was to die for.

Had the 1/2 chips - 1/2 slaw option with cod, shrimp and scallops. Cod and shrimp were excellent, scallops a bit on the small side but all were VERY good. My wife had the halibut and it was excellent. Service was friendly, warm, attentive and professional. Restaurant is a little sterile, the fluorescent lighting makes you feel like you're in a laboratory but the place is bright and spotless. Kitchen and staff were very visible and the cleanliness was a major plus. We thought it was very good value for where restaurant prices are nowadays. Will definitely return.

Absolutely love this place! The food is always delicious and fresh! The restaurant is always very clean! The portions are soo big and filling. And the service is the best I’ve ever had. PS the rice pudding was incredible! Recommend it 100%! The best fish and chips!

Stopped in for take out as they only allow sheep to dine in. Obviously got fish and chips. There was plenty of food to go around which was a nice surprise. Fish was kinda bland and the fries were like most fish and chips places, trash. The fish was cooked perfectly and nice and crispy and hot when we got it home.

Was in town overnight at nearby motel, felt like fish & chips so walked to Ben's . Good food but was disappointed when opened up takeout order to find a wooden fork. Really that ship has sailed, throw that crap out and buy some plastic utensils. Luckily I was able to source a decent fork from motel. Otherwise the special of day was good choice, the coleslaw is not my favorite style but I did eat it all.

The service was fast and pleasant and the fish & chips were excellent...we loved the light and crispy batter!!! The restaurant is a little too brightly lit, and it would probably be difficult to accomodate a larger group. It is not licensed either. Overall though, if you enjoy delicious fish and chips you will enjoy your meal here. We will definitely be back.
